Jenny Lind Cribs

First of all...Thank you to Grace over at Design*Sponge for featuring our Before & After of our Master Bedroom. I felt really special yesterday, and I love seeing new commenters, and will reply this evening to some of the questions that have popped up in the comment section. :)

On to shopping! I picked up crib for our nursery. We are going with a Jenny Lind. Kind of a big jump from my original pick of ultra modern style.

Turns out that I slept in a Jenny Lind style crib. Mom loved the crib and I therefore had sentimental reasons to love it, and the rest is history. :)

Over at Urban Grace, she used her childhood bed but had it sprayed gold. (I haven't found a good after photo on her blog but I will try to update it when I find it!)

Nicole over at Making it Lovely chose a Jenny Lind style of crib and posted these inspirational photos.

I called around the city, and no one, absolutely no one carried it. But I do some graphic design work for a baby store Dear-Born Baby, and called them to see if they carried the crib. Although the crib is not on display, they said that they could get it in. :) WHOOP!

I'm glad I inquired sooner than later as these things need to be special ordered. Although I'm ahead of the game, the crib will take some time to get here.

It's slightly more traditional than I had intended, but I'm going to modernize the room with the bedding and other areas. :)

Ps., We chose a carpet for the nursery and it's being installed Tuesday!

Update, Sunday January 17th...I found some more pictures of Jenny Lind cribs in use!

I love Jenny Lind cribs! I haven't seen any in stores but have seen some vintage ones at antique fairs. They look great painted and work in traditional or modern spaces. Can't wait to see what you do with yours!

I love Jenny Lind cribs. We had a Jenny Lind high chair too.

though it is quite traditional i liked it right away from the pictures. i think it will look wonderful with the additional elements you bring in...keeps it from being too predictable i think :)

Ooooh! Good choice - can't wait to see what you do with it and with the nursery (I think I've said that before... oh well!) Endless possibilities for colours, unless of course you already have something picked out!

Jenny Lind cribs are the BEST... I used the same one for both of my kids {boy & girl}! I do have to say I had the rocker & high chair too. Great choice!!!! Can't wait to see the room all finished. So exciting...

We would love to have another baby :) Every since I saw Nicole Balch's nursery, I've had my eye on Jenny Linds. Then, Erika used one, too, and I was even more convinced that I wanted one if we were going to add to our family. I love Nicole's black one. Just a teeny weeny bit of edge to keep the room from being to sacchrine. Love 'em! It's fun to see your nursery really beginning to come together :)

Congratulations, again!

Thanks everyone!!

I'm glad that you all like the crib! It was MUCH more traditional than I had intended, but after seeing such inspiring photos from fellow bloggers, I was sold. We are going with a white crib. I've debated having it painted, which we MAY do, if the design calls for it, but I'm not sure if I want to go into that territory of paint + baby, even if it's professionally done with appropriate paint. We'll see when it gets here. I should never say never, as it will come back to bite me.

My design has definitely changed since my original mood board that I posted, I'm probably going to try to go for a much more cleaner, preppier look that I seem to be drawn to after seeing Palmer Weiss's room design (link at the bottom). Although it will be much different, I'm inspired the room colours.

My parents used a jenny lind for all of us kids so when I became pregnant 7 months ago I couldn't go with anything else (plus I LOVE Erica at Urban Grace and it didn't hurt that she had just used one:). We decided to also make the crib more modern with fabrics, etc. I can't wait to see how yours turns out! Please keep us updated!

PS- Found your blog off Little Green Notebook and I love checking in on your projects! Thanks for taking time out to share!

We have a white Jenny Lind crib and have loved it. It was $100 from Babies R Us in 2004, and was the best value by far in the store. It looks great, works great, and was just the thing for our kiddo then and is currently being used again for our 5 month old.

I saw a red painted Jenny Lind crub right after we set our crib up and I wished I had gone that route! I'm always leery of painting a crib, though. Do you know anything about the appropriate kind of paint? Or getting it done?

Your house is beautiful! I just found your blog today and can't wait to read more!

I have a jenny lind crib from 1980 that I plan on painting a burnt orange in a VOC free paint. Does anyone know if a standard sized crib mattress will fit? I want to order a new mattress, but am leary of it not being the right size. Thanks!
